RAK Ceramics Supports Islamic Tile Art through Young Future Designers at the Dubai British School

Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, 30 June 2015

Tiles donated to 275 students for Ramadan Art Project

RAK Ceramics, a global hi-tech manufacturer of lifestyle ceramics solutions, is delighted to have supported the Department of Art and Design at Dubai British School by donating tiles to 275 students. The tiles have been used by students to create their own designs as part of a project inspired by Islamic Art and Arab Culture in the spirit of Ramadan. Once the tiles are completed they will be permanently displayed on a wall at the school.

The workshops included students aged 11 to 14 years old in Year 7 and Year 8 who designed and painted their own Islamic Art sketches on RAK Ceramics tiles using ceramic paint.

As part of its CSR strategy, RAK Ceramics continuously looks to align its interests with various socially responsible initiatives aimed at education, sports, healthcare and the wider general community.

Commenting on this project, Abdallah Massaad, RAK Ceramics CEO, said: “We are very pleased to have been able to support Dubai British School with their Islamic Art Project. We are committed to our CSR led initiatives and are always delighted to participate in projects that make a positive contribution to the communities we operate in.”

Steven Allen, Corporate Communications Manager for RAK Ceramics visited the school on the final day of the project to view the students’ work.

RAK Ceramics took CSR to an international level last year when it was the first Ceramics Company in the region to launch a sustainability report using GRI G4 guidelines.

RAK Ceramics has consistently been recognised for its efforts to maintain the highest quality standards in its contribution to the economy, society and environment.
