RAK Ceramics wins prestigious CIO 100 award

Ras Al Khaimah, 20 February 2017

RAK Ceramics PJSC, one of the largest ceramics’ brands in the world, today announced that it has won a CIO 100 award for its innovative use of IT to improve business services.

The award was received on behalf of RAK Ceramics by Angus McIntrye, General Manager, IT Operations and Strategic Projects. It was presented at the recent Computer News Middle East CIO 100 Forum which took place on Sunday 29th January 2017 at The Ritz-Carlton, Jumeirah Beach Residences in Dubai.

RAK Ceramics received the prestigious award for its work utilising existing Oracle DataGuard technology to process SAP activity logs for three of its locations (UAE, Bangladesh and India) simultaneously into a single DR environment hosted in the CtrlS datacentre in Hyderabad. This shared environment allows for the best use of available hardware resources in the event of a disaster, giving the ability to allocate these resources as required to support a disaster without compromising the other two DR services.

Bob Mulumudi, RAK Ceramics' Chief Information Officer said: “We are delighted to have won such a prestigious award for our innovative use of IT. We have been working hard over the last 12 months to improve and consolidate our IT services globally and this award is testament to the hard work being carried out by our IT team.”

Now in its third year, the annual CIO 100 Awards honour the top 100 companies that demonstrate excellence and achievement in IT. Winners for the 2017 awards were chosen from a pool of 300 entries all of whom are using IT in innovative ways to deliver a competitive advantage and enable growth.
