RAK Porcelain Group, part of RAK Ceramics PJSC (Ticker: RAKCEC: Abu Dhabi), has finalized the acquisition of BANKOOK DESIGN CHAMBRE, S.L., the Bilbao-based design company behind the Cookplay brand.
Founded by industrial designer Ana Roquero, Cookplay is renowned for its sculptural, organic forms and responsible material choices, serving both the hospitality and home markets. The acquisition brings together design leadership and industrial scale, allowing customers access to a broader range of creative shapes and finishes, supported by RAK’s manufacturing expertise, quality standards, and global distribution network. Cookplay will continue to operate as an independent brand within the group, now presented as “Cookplay, a RAK Porcelain brand.”
Abdallah Massaad, Group CEO of RAK Ceramics PJSC, commented:
“This acquisition is a natural step in combining craftsmanship, innovation, and global reach. Cookplay’s bold design vision complements our manufacturing strength, allowing us to expand our portfolio and continue inspiring the hospitality and lifestyle sectors with design-led solutions.”
Renu Oommen, CMO of RAK Porcelain Group, added:
“We are delighted to welcome Cookplay into our family. We remain committed to preserving the unique identity and spirit of Cookplay, while amplifying their collections through our worldwide distribution network spanning 165 countries.”
Pramod Kumar Chand, Group CFO, said:
“The acquisition strengthens our premium offering, diversifies revenues, and opens new opportunities for profitable growth, fully aligned with our long-term strategy.”
With this strategic move, RAK Porcelain Group, a global leader in premium ceramic and bone-china tableware, reinforces its position in the HORECA sector and expands its global reach, serving over 50,000 star hotels, cruise lines, and airlines in more than 165 countries.
