Atlantis, The Palm
Atlantis, The Palm

The world famous Atlantis, The Palm is located at the crown of the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai. It was the first hotel to be built on the island and although it is themed on the myth of Atlantis, it includes distinctive Arabian elements.

Spread across 47 hectares, Atlantis, The Palm contains 1539 luxurious guest rooms. Atlantis, The Palm is one of the most luxurious hotel resorts in the world attracting many international celebrities and wealthy visitors.

With the likelihood of rising water levels affecting The Palm in the future and considering the harsh climate, the engineers Norr Consultants selected RAK Ceramics’ Travertin Series. With very low water absorption (less than 0.05%) the series is highly durable ensuring the tiles last longer than normal porcelain tiles. The tile also has high resistance to scratches, heat and stains. A total of 150,000 m² has been installed on both interior and exterior floors. The resemblance of Travertin Series to natural stone complemented the traditional Arabic interiors of Atlantis, The Palm and so perfectly suited the design requirements of the architect.

Travertin is a gres porcelain tile inspired by natural stone. Produced using the latest in ceramics technology, the series allows consistent grouting when installed on a large area. With very low (less than 0.05%) water absorption, Traverin is highly durable and also has excellent stain resistance, chemical resistance and heat resistance features which made it the perfect solution in Dubai’s hot climate. The breaking strength (≥ 1400 N) of RAK Ceramics’ Travertin exceeds international quality standards and makes it suitable for high traffic areas. The series is available in 45x45cm size and a choice of 4 colours.
